Description
When walking through the streets of Rome you will pass dozens of nasoni (big nose-fountains in Italian) and fontanelle, more ornate fountains. The Romans left Rome a legacy of free, clean drinking water available at these fountains throughout the city. There are about 2,500 of them scattered throughout the city with the oldest in the Trastevere district.

Roman culture certainly left a lasting mark on our society, I wonder if they had any idea these fountains would outlast their reign.

I often look at the aqueducts throughout Europe and wonder the same thing. Thank you, Greta.
