Good question, Rosy. I am not an ornithologist, however, pelicans are a genus of large water birds comprising the family Pelecanidae. The oldest known pelican fossil was found in southeastern France, and was similar to present day pelicans. As for the water, that took a bit of processing. It was actually ugly green, but I thought a bird of such ancient lineage deserved better.
