Mary Machare replied:
Thank you, Elizabeth. I thought it was funny, too… that is why I had to capture it.

Mary, Fantastic capture of this pelican on the shore. Excellent details of his layers of feathers and the long beak and a great job at capturing the details in that head. Excellent details in the foreground surrounding the pelican and great background details also. Fantastic photo, fav, voted, and google promoted and selected as my Pay It Forward for the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery group

PS.. I still use my zoom lens as well. I want to get a really good, long distance zoom lens someday so I can get out in the field for more variaty, as there are some birds that just do not feed at a bird feeder..

Beautiful shot Mary!! He (or she) is a real beauty!! v.f!! I want to thank you again for all your very kind comments and support! :D Concerning my bird photos, well, well a few years ago I was chacing around trying to get a good shot of any kind of bird without sucess. Then it came to me to put a bird feeder right outside a window where I could sit and take pics from there..My current feeder is sitting atop a piece of 1x12 about 15 or 16 inches long . My husband attached it to a 4x4 just the level of the window about a foot and a half out. He also drilled three holes in which I place interesting tree branches for the birds to perch on..I did have a nice background of pecan tree leaves that will give nice bokeh, but there is no leaves now so I use one of the many bokeh shots I have taken just for the purpose of layering in. I have also discovered textures!!! I LOVE using them! I hope this helps! :D God Bless and thanks again!! :D
