Description
Everywhere we look are patterns. In the series, Patterns of City Life, I look at the patterns formed by the buildings that surround us, creating a visual rhythm. These photos were taken in Chicago. Layers of filters were used to bring out the patterns formed by the architectural detail.

This panoramic view of so many windows makes me wonder what is happening in everyone of those spaces, very thought provoking.
Mary Machare replied:
I too wonder when I see skyscraper upon skyscraper. Thanks so much for your comments and support!

Creative and nicely worked, many times all that's needed is a different view of the obvious;), well done Mary;)

I love the undulating wall - subtle shapes and changes in a color - one of many great shots here.
Mary Machare replied:
Thank you, Steve, for your kind comments. I took a series of photos of the buildings and they form wonderful patterns.

Great lines! They can have it.
Mary Machare replied:
Yes, the patterns of lines and windows and walls can begin to hem one in... just the opposite of the sweeping views of the West that you photograph so lovingly.
