Description
This tile work celebrates the story of Don Quixote, the protagonist of the Spanish novel "El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha" by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. This grouping of tiles found inside a restaurant in Triana, located east of the Guadalquivir River, across from Seville.
Anyone who has visited southern Spain cannot help to admire the beautiful ceramic tile work which is everywhere, on he interior and exterior of churches, palaces, ordinary houses, schools, and nowadays, restaurants, bars and even railways or subway stations.
Much of the tile work is Azulejo, a form of Spanish and Portuguese painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. They were not only used as an ornamental art form, but also had a specific functional capacity like temperature control in homes.
